‘THE NASIR, BEKRI, TAYI & LAWRENCE TRIBUTE TREK’

Description

An oil painting to mark the 2025 Lawrence Tribute Trek by members of the Special Forces Club.

In 1917, T.E. Lawrence, Auda Abu Tayi, Sherif Nasir and Nesib el Bekri, crossed the Hejaz mountains and the Nefud Plain to enter Aqaba from the land and liberate the city from the Turks. Because this was such an iconic action and the forerunner to modern-day Special Forces operations, members of the Special Forces Club, and in aid of the Special Forces Club Benevolent Fund, decided to recreate that Trek and become the first people to complete it on camelback since Lawrence himself did it.

14 January – 7 February 2025,  25 Days,  1,100kilometres (685 Miles).
